After leaving school at the age of 15, the artist joined the army and for the next fifteen years served in the UK and Germany. On becoming a civilian in 1980 he then had various employment as a long distance driver, spending many lonely nights away from his wife and family for over 20 years. Having now stopped working to take care of his wife he decided to attend Art courses at Runshaw College, this being the first art or painting to be done since leaving school so long ago. After two basic level 1 and 2 courses were completed, he then went on to study again at Runshaw with a local artist who has a very successful reputation from London to New York as the tutor, covering Portraits in Oil.

And so after many suggestions from friends and family the artist has decided to put some of his work onto the Internet. As can be seen it is not just portraiture, but landscape and also still life that keeps the artist busy in the small shed he calls his studio( too much paint on the dining room walls), he has not yet developed the urge for modern or abstract art , but never say never! So far he has restricted his Landscapes to places that he himself has been to or visited, but as he normally works from enlarged photo’s (A4) that either he or a friend/relative has taken, that will probably change in the future.
